Byline Cookie Notice
How Byline uses cookies, local storage, session storage, OAuth cookies, and related technologies.
Last updated: May 11, 2026
1. Overview
Byline uses cookies and browser storage to make the website and app work, keep users signed in, protect OAuth flows, remember preferences, support billing redirects, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors.
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or sell personal information through cookies. If we add non-essential advertising, analytics, or similar cookies, we will update this notice and any required consent or preference controls.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
- Authentication cookies and session cookies used to keep you signed in and protect authenticated requests.
- Short-lived OAuth cookies used to store state and verification values while connecting X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, or other supported platform accounts.
- Security and abuse-prevention cookies or tokens used for bot protection, rate limiting, and fraud prevention.
- Billing flow cookies or redirects used by the payment provider and the browser to complete checkout, invoices, receipts, or billing portal sessions.
- Some strictly necessary cookies or storage entries may be set by security and payment providers on their own domains as part of their services.
3. Local and session storage
Byline may use localStorage or sessionStorage for interface preferences, onboarding state, tour completion, draft onboarding answers, blog attribution, theme behavior, and other local product state.
Local and session storage helps the product feel continuous, but it can be cleared through your browser settings. Clearing it may reset preferences or in-progress local setup state.
4. Diagnostics and security
Byline may use production error and performance diagnostics to find, prioritize, and fix product issues, maintain service reliability, and investigate security or abuse concerns. These diagnostics are not used for third-party advertising.
If Byline adds non-essential analytics, advertising, or diagnostics technologies that require consent in a jurisdiction, we will update this notice and the relevant consent or preference controls before using those technologies there.
Bot-prevention and abuse-prevention tools may process device and interaction signals to distinguish legitimate users from scripted abuse.
5. Your choices
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent login, OAuth connection, checkout, billing, or core app features from working.
Questions about cookies can be sent to support@byline.work.
