Data Deletion Instructions

How to disconnect platform accounts, request deletion, and understand what Byline removes or retains.

Last updated: May 11, 2026

1. Fastest deletion options

  • Email support@byline.work from the email address associated with your Byline account and state that you want your Byline account deleted.
  • Disconnect X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, or any other supported platform account from Byline settings to remove the stored platform connection from Byline.
  • Revoke Byline from the connected platform's own app, security, or connected apps settings to stop future platform access.

2. Disconnecting a platform account

Disconnecting a platform account removes Byline's stored connection for that platform, including encrypted access and refresh tokens and stored account metadata used for that connection. It does not delete posts, response records, or analytics that already exist on the platform.

You may also need to remove Byline from the platform's authorized apps page. Platform-side revocation helps ensure the platform will not allow new access even if old credentials existed.

3. Deleting a Byline account

When you request account deletion, Byline will verify the request and delete or de-identify account records, profile settings, brand brain data, drafts, content cards, connected platform account data, stored tokens, uploaded files, scan jobs, analytics snapshots, and support data where deletion is required and technically feasible.

Deletion does not automatically remove content already published to connected platforms, sent to recipients, exported by you, shared with collaborators, or retained by third-party platforms under their own terms. You should delete platform content directly on the platform if you want it removed there.

4. Platform-specific data

For X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok connections, Byline removes stored tokens and connection metadata when you disconnect or request deletion. For any other future platform integrations, Byline will process platform data deletion requests according to the applicable platform rules and the permissions granted.

For LinkedIn, covered deletion includes stored LinkedIn Member Tokens, OAuth access tokens, and LinkedIn API content collected on your behalf, except where retaining a record is required by law or a governmental obligation. If LinkedIn terminates or suspends API access, requests deletion, or Byline stops operating the LinkedIn-connected feature, Byline deletes covered LinkedIn data as required by LinkedIn terms.

If a platform sends a valid deletion callback or requires a deletion status URL, Byline will use the information provided by that platform to locate and remove covered platform data where technically feasible.

5. Timing

We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days unless a shorter period is required by law or platform policy, or unless additional verification is needed. For LinkedIn API content and other platform data subject to faster platform-deletion rules, we process covered deletion on the faster timeline required by that platform once the request is verified and the covered data is technically located.

Some residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or security records until they expire through normal retention cycles, unless a platform rule or applicable law requires a different handling.

6. Retention exceptions

Byline may retain limited records where necessary for billing, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, platform compliance, enforcement of our terms, or backup integrity. Retained records are limited to the purpose requiring retention.
